COOKING GROUP CLASSES
Cooking forms a great therapy session for children. It teaches organisation, patience, coordination and is also great for mental wellbeing.
Group Cooking Classes
– Class Size Limited to 6 –
Have fun learning the basics of cooking with our Senior Occupational Therapist – Jamie Hunter.
Optimum Movement cooking groups are developed to improve bimanual hand function and is based on the evidence we know from bimanual skills training/HABIT research. Goals can be completely unrelated to cooking (e.g. opening school bag, getting dressed, writing, cutting etc). School skills (cutting, writing, organisation, planning) will be incorporated into the cooking group as will some aspects of dressing (aprons and chef hats).
Obviously in a group format, there will also be emphasis on developing social communication skills and teamwork.
